特朗普政府与Google、Microsoft、xAI达成AI模型安全测试协议

U.S. government to evaluate AI models before public release

The Center for AI Standards and Innovation (CAISI) on Tuesday announced agreements with Google DeepMind, Microsoft and Elon Musk’s xAI that will allow the U.S. government to evaluate artificial intelligence models before they are publicly available.

CAISI, which sits under the U.S. Department of Commerce, will “conduct pre-deployment evaluations and targeted research to better assess frontier AI capabilities and advance the state of AI security,” according to a release.

The announcement builds on CAISI’s previous partnerships with OpenAI and Anthropic from 2024, the center said. Those agreements have been renegotiated to reflect CAISI’s directives from the Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and America’s AI Action Plan, according to the release.

White House explores new AI oversight mechanisms

Beyond CAISI’s announcement on Tuesday, the White House has been weighing the creation of a new AI working group that would explore potential oversight procedures, including plans to vet models before they’re released to the public, CNBC confirmed.

The working group would bring together a variety of tech executives and government officials, according to a source close to the discussions who asked not to be named because the details are confidential. The group may be established through an executive order.

The White House told CNBC that discussion about potential executive orders is speculation, and that any policy announcement will come directly from President Donald Trump.

The New York Times was first to report the working group.

Anthropic’s new model sparks government interest

The White House’s discussions about a working group come after Anthropic, a leading AI company, caught government officials’ attention last month by announcing a powerful new model, Claude Mythos Preview.

Mythos excels at identifying weaknesses and security flaws within software, according to Anthropic, so the company decided to limit the rollout to a select group of companies as part of a new cybersecurity initiative called Project Glasswing.

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei met with senior members of the Trump administration to discuss Mythos at the White House just days after it was announced. That meeting happened even after the Defense Department had declared Anthropic a supply chain risk, meaning the company purportedly threatens U.S. national security.

Both the White House and Anthropic characterized that meeting as “productive.”
